[Greeting]
Who we are
Representative Director
Satoru SHIBUYA
The Construction Engineering Research Institute(CERI) was established in November
1958 with the approval of the Minister of Education as a foundation aimed at facilitating
collaboration between academia, government, and the private sector to address various
issues. The goal was to return the results of research and development in construction
engineering and technology obtained at Kobe University to society and to use them in
creating safe and secure cities and communities. The institute was initially certified as a
specified public interest promotion corporation and has been actively pursuing its
objectives. In May 1966, the old research building was completed in Tsurukabuto, Nada
Ward, and became the base for implementing our activities.
Following the reform of the public interest corporation system, the institute transitioned
to a general incorporated foundation in April 2013. Despite this change, it continues to
uphold its original philosophy and promote activities that contribute to the public
interest. In May 2015, the new research building was completed on the site of the old
one.
For over 60 years since its inception, our institute has successfully carried out its
intended activities. We are truly grateful for the support and cooperation of the local
government, our supporting members, and private businesses.
Moving forward, to meet the demands of the times, our staff and researchers will
continue to work together to advance cutting-edge research and implement its results in
society. We look forward to your continued support and guidance.
